At Gaia & Gino – Grid. Jaime Haydon talks about his design and inspiration for the Grid Vases for Gaia & Gino “The Grid vase, was inspired by a combination of city influences. Since moving to London, I have been fascinated by British history and the strong medieval atmosphere when I walk through the streets. I became fascinated by tales of the knights templar and the Tudors and the endlessly rich history surrounding me. I came up with vases, inspired by suits of armor, helmets and fencing masks. My trip to Turkey was also relevant. I had visited the city and the beauty I had seen in Islamic arts and crafts was very inspirational. Strong yet fancy armor and the essence of these two cities are very much behind this set of vases."

Fuori Salone - Gaia&Gino.Beautiful, talented, Turkish entrepreneur Gaye Cevikel poses besides British design stars, Jasper Morrison and Tom Dixon at the party, for the Gaia & Gino collection in the Sportmax boutique. This year's superstar designer was Andree Putman with her Lucky tabletop collection. Also presented this year, for the first time, Gino the Dog collection, a series of dog accessories designed by eight selected students from the California College of the Arts, under the direction of Yves Behar. Please note, that Gino is the name of Gaye's beautiful golden retriever dog. Jasper Morrison proudly announced "I have been coming to the Milan Furniture Fair for twenty-six years." Whereas, Tom Dixon has always wanted to get into the Guinness Book of Records. This year's Milan design week, provided the perfect platform to realize his closeted ambition. At, Milan Malpensa Airport, Dixon designed and installed a 45 metre sofa which was sponsored by Bombay Sapphire. And, guess what color it was? Yes, Sapphire Blue. The current record, of a 35 metres sofa, is held by Natuzzi. Let's hope, Tom will fulfill his long time dream.

Fuori Salone -When fashion meets design - Max Mara's simpatico style director Giorgio Guidotti and glamorous founder of Gaia&Gino's Gaye Cevikel pose in the Via della Spiga store during the opening of the Turkishscape exhibition - The name Gaia&Gino comes from Gaye's nickname and Gino, her precious golden retriever. Gaye's concept is to provide a unique cultural design experience which produces sophisticated contemporary objects and redefines what tabletop, glassware and decorative stands for today.
